Your first step is to contact the CBT Admissions Office. They’ll provide answers to your questions about the school, arrange an opportunity to visit the campus and take a tour, and give direction on what the application process looks like.

The admissions office will also help you throughout the process to ensure that all your required documents are submitted.

Students are able to choose from studying at a full-time or part-time capacity or as an occasional student. This allows us to offer flexibility and affordability for each student’s life situation.

Please note that international students on a study permit need to maintain a full-time status throughout the program.

CBTS&C does not offer full scholarships. There are limited scholarships available covering a percentage of the cost. See what we have to offer in regards to scholarships and financial aid. Download application forms and deadlines.

Once all the paperwork is properly submitted it typically takes two weeks for CBTS&C to let you know if you have been accepted into the program of your choice.

Yes!

MDiv students are required to complete 12 F2F (face-to-face instruction) credits and MCMin students require 8 F2F credits.  These F2F credits are fulfilled by in-class learning, via zoom, or attending intensive courses in January or May/June.

We also offer two general theological studies degrees, Master of Biblical Studies and Master of Christian Studies. Both can be earned 100% online.

See our other Seminary Programs.

It depends, but it is very likely based on your school. Students who wish to transfer their academic credits from another institution need to contact either the Admissions office or the Registrars office. If you provide us with an academic transcript from your previous institution, then we can provide a free assessment of your credits to determine if they are transferable to the degree program you are enrolling in. It will be considered on a course-by-course basis.

Yes we are! Canadian Baptist Theological Seminary and College is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation (5850 T. G. Lee Blvd., Ste. 130, Orlando, FL 32822, 407.207.0808) to grant certificates and degrees at the Associate, Baccalaureate and Master’s levels.

Many seminary students attend part-time in order to work, parent, and serve in ministry while working toward their degree.

Depending on the degree program chosen, it would typically take 4-6 years to complete one of our Master degrees attending part-time. An individualized plan can be drawn up with an academic advisor to help students consider part-time status and successful completion of a degree and training for ministry and leadership.

We offer online classes and one-week intensive classes at our school to provide flexible class options in order for students to make important progress in their degrees.

CBTS&C is located in the beautiful town of Cochrane, Alberta with a vibrant community of staff and students doing life together. It is just 20 minutes away from Calgary, and just over 1 hour away from Banff National Park.

Because we are located outside of downtown Cochrane, we encourage students to either have their own car, car pool, or utilize the COLT bus service.

There is an On-Demand Local Transit Service (COLT) in Cochrane and we have a virtual bus stop on campus located right in front of our Administration Building.

For more information about how to book your ride please visit their website at: https://ridecolt.ca/

Student housing is available for students, whether single or with their families, to allow for independent living with community support.

We have unfurnished 1-bedroom apartments as well as two (2) and three (3) bedroom townhouses located right on-campus. See Student Housing for more information.

International Student FAQs

International students can only apply for the fall semester. The application deadline is March 1st.

However, since processing times for study permits can be lengthy, we suggest that your application be completed in advance of the deadline stated.

Since the language of instruction is English, applicants must be proficient in both verbal and written English. All applicants (regardless of citizenship) whose first language is not English must submit the result of the TOEFL test. Test scores must be no more than 2 years old.

CBTS&C does not offer ESL (English as Second Language) courses. Applicants must be proficient in both verbal and written English before they can be admitted.

International students can work off-campus if they have a valid study permit. See the Government of Canada website for more details.

You are required to arrive on campus no later than two weeks prior to the start of the first day of classes for the Fall semester.

If you are unable to arrive by this date, you may need to postpone the start of your studies until the following school year.

Cochrane schools fall under Rockyview School District. Go to the Rockyview website for the school calendar, fees and school bus passes.

Every International student in Alberta needs health coverage. You will need to obtain appropriate health care insurance before you arrive in Canada. You will not be covered by Canadian Health Insurance until you arrive in Canada or begin your studies.

Once you arrive, you must apply within 90 days of arriving in Alberta to be covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). Your coverage will vary depending on the length of your stay. Click here to learn more.

Students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution can apply for a postgraduate work permit.
