An introduction to basic homiletics, focusing on the preparation and delivery of expository sermons. The course will be designed to be practice-intensive, with a maximum amount of time and energy, both in and out of class, devoted to the preparing and delivering biblical sermons. You will preach multiple sermons in class, receive feedback from your professor and your peers, and take steps to improve over the course of the semester as you view and evaluate videos of your own preaching.

Spiritual Development (SD) introduces students to the wonder, joy, and practice of biblical disciplines that are essential for Christian spiritual growth and renewal. Each student’s unique
spiritual pilgrimage will be identified and evaluated. Everyone will be challenged to encounter “new-to-them” spiritual disciplines and adopt holy routines for a lifelong, vibrant Christian journey as members of their local church and God’s global kingdom.

Christian Theology (CT) introduces students to the theological method, key doctrines, pivotal texts, and theological terms of the Christian faith. This class overviews Bibliology, Theology Proper, Angelology, Anthropology, Demonology, Hamartiology, Christology, Pneumatology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology, and Eschatology. Furthermore, CT will demonstrate the role and
relevance of theology for Christian living, education, and ministry in Christianity’s various local and global contexts.

The course will include study of both Western and Eastern religious traditions as well as African and Native North American traditional religious belief.
