Senior Pastor

Qualifications

We are seeking a pastor who meets the biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 , Titus 1:5–9 , and 1 Peter 5:1–4. Other qualifications include the following:

  • Must be in full agreement with Bow Valley Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith
  • Affiliation, or willingness to affiliate, with the Canadian National Baptist Convention
  • Minimum 5 years experience leading a church as Senior / Lead Pastor
  • Seminary training aligned with the Canadian National Baptist Convention or Southern Baptist Conventions

The Executive Director serves as the organizational and spiritual leader of King’s Fold, responsible for all aspects of the Centre’s operations, ministry, and community life. This permanent role provides daily leadership that integrates spiritual depth and Community shepherding, with sound administrative and operational acumen, ensuring that the mission and vision of King’s Fold are lived out in every area of its ministry.

As part of their commitment to the Community, the Executive Director resides on the King’s Fold grounds, participating in and modelling the rhythm of contemplative living, hospitality, and prayer that defines the Centre’s life.

Qualifications

Position Overview:

Grand Forks First Baptist church is a Christ centered church with a vision for impacting our community and beyond. We have a balanced demographic, from newborns to the elderly, and everything in between.

Our attendance varies from 70-100 people. We are seeking a full-time lead pastor to provide pastoral leadership in conjunction with our elders, and we would love a pastor who values community by getting to know people and caring for them.

The lead pastor will guide the church with vision, direction, and spiritual oversight as we pursue our purpose and mission:

“To make known the glory of God through out the world and in the heavenly places (Ephesians 3.10), by praising Him as God, by proclaiming the Word of God and by building up mature believers into the likeness of the Son of God”.

Position Qualifications:

  • Fits the biblical qualifications for an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Has a graduate or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary preferred
  • Has pastoral ministry experience, or experience serving and leading in a church or other setting

Pastoral Responsibilities:

  • Weekly biblical teaching from the Word of God that is true to the Word, is unaltered and unadulterated, and holds to sound Biblical doctrine
  • Oversees, in collaboration with the elders, the various ministries of First Baptist Church, giving leadership to them and the church.
  • Disciple and train up individuals for the work of ministry
  • Provide pastoral care, support, counselling and visitation of members in times of suffering, illness or grief. Be an active shepherd to the congregation, leading and teaching them to love one another and serve one another, just as our Lord Jesus taught his disciples.
  • Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and baby dedications
  • Be active in the Grand Forks community where applicable
  • Plan seasonal and special church services (Christmas/Easter etc.)
  • Sees that other various needs are addressed as they arise

Job Summary:

The Hope Mission Rescue Van (HMRV) program provides mobile outreach services to vulnerable community members in need of assistance and support. The program partners with first responders such as law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire rescue services to:

  1. provide a more appropriate response to non-emergency crisis situations; and
  2. to free up first responder services to respond to more appropriate emergency calls. In addition to this, the program responds to calls from businesses and the general public through a mobile cell phone that goes directly to our teams.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using a trauma informed lens, support vulnerable community members on a street level by helping meet their basic needs of food, clothing, transportation to shelter and/or other community resources.
  • Increase awareness of and provide referrals to social supports and services available from various agencies, organizations and groups within Calgary.
  • Drive within the City of Calgary in response to non-emergency distress or crisis incidents.
  • Drive within the City of Calgary to provide general support service to vulnerable community members in the absence of a crisis call dispatch.
  • Increase public awareness of Hope Mission and its work through mobile services.
  • Liaise with first responders (EMS, CPS, Fire Rescue) to take over or hand over crisis situations as the case may be.
  • Communicate with any program partners to consult and determine an appropriate response to crisis events.
  • Ensure the HMRV vehicle is washed, cleaned, fueled, stocked, maintained, and ready to be used and shown on a moment’s notice.
  • Communicate with logistics support staff on vehicle maintenance concerns.
  • Communicate with Program Manager about staff welfare concerns.
  • Complete the HMRV Daily Stats sheet at the end of every shift.
  • Complete necessary incident reports for every critical incident.
  • Communicate a brief of the day’s events to other teams at the end of shift debrief.
  • Assist with additional tasks as required by Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Full Class 5 Alberta driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract and 5 years accident free driving record.
  • Clean criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check and child welfare check is required.
  • First Aid and Non Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset, but is provided if needed.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Excellent day and night vision and sharp sense of hearing.
  • Capacity to adjust to rapid changes in temperature in and out of vehicle.
  • High degree of competency in boundaries, assertiveness, accountability and maximizing opportunities.
  • High level of care and compassion for culturally marginalized and underprivileged people.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Full mobility and capacity to work with and care for repurposed ambulance vehicles.

Key competencies:

  • Emotional intelligence and capacity to respond quickly and effectively to rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and interact compassionately with intoxicated individuals or/and individuals with poor mental health.
  • Skill in coaching, facilitating, and training for life change and character development.

Other Requirements:

  • Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.

SENIOR PASTOR

McKernan Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who will shepherd our congregation with wisdom, humility, and courage.

Hilda Baptist Church Pastor Job Description

Role of the Pastor

One primary role of the pastor at Hilda Baptist Church is that of Biblical Preaching and Teaching for about 47 Sundays per year.  This preaching and teaching should be biblically and theologically rooted and engaging and applicable to the lives of the congregants. (Approx. 20 hrs/week)

Another primary role of the pastor is that of shepherding by way of meaningful interaction through home and hospital visitation, while providing basic counselling and prayer ministries, as well as officiating weddings and funerals. (Approx. 15 hrs/week)

As Hilda Baptist Church is a single staff church, certain administrative and governance responsibilities are also necessary.  Participation in all church board, deacon committee and congregational (quarterly) meetings is expected, along with other special meetings or occasions that may arise (such as Alberta Baptist Association events, local community gatherings, and personal development opportunities).  The pastor is also automatically on the board of Pinecrest Bible Camp. (Approx. 5 hrs/week)

Pastoral Profile

The pastor will be a devoted and loving follower of Jesus Christ, modelling a life of prayer and careful study of the Bible while helping others to grow as disciples of Jesus.

The pastor will be able to communicate the HBC vision, working well with fellow church leaders in carrying out that vision, while applying the Word of God to all areas of life and the church ministry. 

The pastor will be careful to maintain a healthy balance related to personal, family and ministry responsibilities. 

The pastor will be comfortable with the leadership and ministry of others, according to their gifts and calling. 

The pastor will subscribe whole-heartedly to the Nicene Creed, the North American Baptist Statement of Beliefs, the North American Baptist Christian Affirmation of Marriage and the Hilda Baptist Church Christian Affirmation of Gender & Sexuality.

Organizational Relationships: 

The pastor will be an ex-officio member of the board and other committees of Hilda Baptist Church, supporting and encouraging church leaders while providing spiritual counsel and insight. 

The pastor will collaborate with the deacons to discern and address the spiritual needs of the congregation. 

The pastor is accountable, through the moderator and church board, to the membership of Hilda Baptist Church.

The pastor will maintain a supportive relationship with the Alberta Baptist Association.

Associate Pastor – Youth and Young Adults

The Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adults is the leader responsible for shaping the ministry vision, providing program direction, and effectively implementing these to the First Baptist Church-Peace River Youth Group and related ministries.

Some of the duties for this position include providing Bible-based teaching, biblical counselling, and planning events and functions for the youth and young adults.

An undergraduate degree from an accredited Christian institution is required, with a preference towards Biblical/Theological training.

This is a full-time position of 40 hours a week from Sunday through Friday. There will be a standard three-month probationary period to the benefit of both the employer and employee.

This position is directly supervised by the Lead Pastor. The Associate Youth Pastor is directly accountable to the Board of Elders and the Church Council. Attendance at all meetings related to the above accountability requirements is mandatory.

  • Take part in annual performance reviews with the Council or their delegates.• Complete all coursework required for ordination (if necessary).

REQUIREMENTS:

Adhere to the ministerial policies, procedures and protocol (MPM) of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada

  • Possess a degree from a recognized theological institution
  • A minimum of three years pastoral ministry experience preferred
  • Produce a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks
  • Eligible to be licensed to perform marriages in the Northwest Territories

CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Applicants with less pastoral experience may be considered if they are open to mentorship and demonstrate a readiness to grow into the senior pastoral role.
