Master of Biblical Studies
The Master of Biblical Studies (MBS) is a graduate-level academic degree program designed to equip students with the skills for in-depth study and interpretation of the Bible. Designed with a high standard of academic rigor, the focus of the degree is to gain biblical content knowledge and skills in biblical interpretation. This program strengthens lay people and leaders serving in church, para-church, or other mission agencies.

The M.B.S. provides intensive study in biblical content, biblical languages, theology, and Christian leadership. Elective courses allow you to deepen your knowledge in areas of interest.

To prepare for the Capstone Research Project, at least one Bible book study must correspond to the testament chosen for the research project. Students are encouraged to take book studies in their chosen biblical language when possible. The Capstone Research Project is a 2-credit hour requirement which must be written in the final semester. It consists of a directed study with a member of the Biblical Studies faculty and will result in a research paper to be evaluated by the project supervisor. Being a directed study, the student will pay a directed study fee in addition to required tuition. If the project extends beyond the academic term, a continuance fee will also be charged.

The prerequisite for this degree is a B.A. degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited college or university. Degrees from unaccredited schools are considered on an individual basis.

A total of 48 credit hours is required for completion of the degree, distributed across Biblical and Language Studies, Theological Studies, Leadership and Character Studies, and electives.

You must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the program. The M.B.S. degree requires a 3.3 GPA (undergraduate and/or graduate) for admission.
04
The Capstone Research Project is a required 2-credit hour directed study that must be completed in your final semester. This project demonstrates your biblical interpretation competency through a research paper evaluated by a Biblical Studies faculty member.

A total of 55 credit hours is required for completion of the degree, combining core courses, your chosen track, and free electives.

At least 8 credit hours must be completed face-to-face (on campus, via Zoom, or at intensive courses) to provide regular and substantive student–faculty interaction — essential to achieving the degree outcomes.

The MCMin is a flexible degree offering full-time, part-time, and fully online study options, with typical completion in 2-3 years. International students may apply; DLI designation and study permit eligibility will be confirmed upon application.
