Community Life

It is our desire and commitment here at the Canadian Baptist Theological Seminary & College to help and encourage our students in their academic, emotional and spiritual growth. We exist to build community throughout our campus and to provide our students with the support they need so they can finish well. We also serve as a resource center where our students can receive information about counselling services, employment opportunities, and local community agencies. Our Student Life also partners with local churches and ministries to provide assistance to those in need.

Below are some of these programs/events:

Canadian Baptist College and Seminary Student Life

Incoming Students

Student Life actively participates in the orientation process of new students in the fall and spring semesters. We provide incoming students with important information and resources for settling into school, Cochrane, and Alberta. We focus on the needs of international students as they arrive, including transportation from the airport to campus, and getting them settled into housing. We strive to connect new students with returning students and families for friendship and interaction.

We also participate in a day set aside to allow high school and potential new students to tour and interact with faculty and staff in hopes of recruiting and registering new students each fall/spring.

CSBS&C Family Picnic

Kick-off Family Picnic

Every year at the beginning of the fall semester we prepare a family picnic where our students and their families can get to know each other and also get to know our faculty, staff and their families. It is a fun time and a great way to kick off the academic year!

Friday Fellowship at Canadian Baptist Seminary & College

Fellowships

Fellowship is very important and highly valued by our CBT community. We enjoy having involvement from our students, staff and faculty, local churches and church plants, ministries and organizations that host these fellowships. It’s a great time to update and provide students with announcements of activities and community events. Throughout the year we have themes such as: Thanksgiving meal, Chili Cook-off, Easter meal, Mexican Fiestas, pancake breakfast, pizza day, and more. We invite families of students, guests on campus, potential new students, and supportive leaders to attend these fellowships.

Chapel Service

Weekly Chapel

Chapel services at CBT provide a regular opportunity for our community to come together and be drawn back to the heart of God. We are reminded that we are the Body of Christ and do not walk alone! As a community we engage in worship, hear God’s word preached, and fellowship with one another in an environment that facilitates mentorship and spiritual growth. Join us in person every Wednesday at 10am, or listen to all our past chapel messages online!

Student Council at Canadian Baptist Seminary & College

Student Council

Student Life works with Student Council to plan for and initiate activities and opportunities for students. The Student Council meets regularly with the President and Student Life Director, as well as on their own, to discuss campus life and needs, to pray, plan events, and host activities that help meet needs and foster community. They lead in chapel each semester and provide leadership to the student body. They also lead an online community through the Discord app.

Women in Ministry

Women in Ministry

We spend much prayer and energy on making sure the women (students, wives, faculty, and staff) on campus are connected, encouraged, equipped, and are given the opportunity to build community.

We have a women’s event night once a month and a retreat in the fall. Involvement in this ministry will equip women for a life of ministry in their churches and communities. We create opportunities for fun, prayer, and spiritual growth. We spend time connected one-on-one with women as much as possible.

Student Life

Recreational

Every semester we offer our students the opportunity to participate in intramurals. Students have enjoyed playing soccer and basketball in the past. Hikes are also a great way to take a break from books, get out and connect with other students. We try to plan at least one hike per semester.
