The Canadian Baptist Theological Seminary and College is thrilled to welcome a new addition to its faculty: Dr. Robbie Booth. The school’s new Associate Professor of New Testament and Greek arrived in mid-July, ready to invest in God-called spiritual leaders-in-the-making. CBT’s extraordinary faculty is foundational in providing the highest possible quality of evangelical higher education and ministry training. Excellence in teaching and practical discipleship—both inside and outside the classroom—are core values every faculty member upholds, and Dr. Robbie Booth wholeheartedly embodies them.

Dr. Booth is no stranger to the school and knows what it’s like to be a CBT student, having graduated from CBT with a Master of Divinity in 2015. With both his parents being missionaries and indispensable faculty members, teaching and living missionally are in Robbie’s blood. He continued his education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where his research focused on the synoptic gospels, particularly the Gospel of Matthew. With the dissertation titled “First Jerusalem, Then the Parousia: A Case for a Simple Preterist-Futurist Interpretation of Matthew 24-25,” Robbie completed his PhD studies in 2021. Soon after, he and his family were called to Union Theological College in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he served for the past five years as a leader and faculty member.

Over time, God has been preparing their hearts to make the transition to CBT and return to Cochrane. “In His kindness, the Lord has made it very clear to us that this is where He wants us,” Robbie shares. “We are so thankful to get to be a part of what the Lord is doing in Canada.” He, his wife Robyn, and their three boys – Asher (10), Emmett (7), and Finn (1) – are thrilled to be back in Cochrane. “Our reception in the community has been warm and welcoming. The boys have adjusted quickly and are settling well, which has been a huge answer to prayer. It is also a blessing to be near family after 10-plus years of living far away.” Both Robbie and Robyn are missionary kids and have moved often. Robbie spent seven years of his childhood in Budapest, Hungary, and Robyn spent several years in Moscow, Russia. “But” he states excitedly, “Cochrane feels as much home as anywhere for us, and we are really looking forward to putting down roots!”

Robbie’s overseas teaching experience and missionary roots are an exceptional fit for CBT’s faculty, whose diverse backgrounds and mission-mindedness are key to making a difference in the lives of students called to serve Christ—across Canada and around the world. President Dr. Rob Blackaby is celebrating the addition of Robbie to the faculty team:

“He comes to us with the sustained commitment to pursue academic excellence for the service of the church. Because of his history with our school and our denomination, he is passionate about his alignment with both CBT and CNBC. As we approach our 40th anniversary year, we have cause for celebration that God has invited another of our stellar graduates to return to our CBT community to help train a new generation of God-called men and women for spiritual leadership in tough places.”

CBT’s new Associate Professor of New Testament and Greek will start the fall semester teaching New Testament 1 and Greek 1 at the seminary level as well as leading a journey group. Dr. Booth loves to help students gain a deeper understanding of the New Testament and sees the importance of learning biblical Greek for accurate interpretation and ministry. He thoroughly enjoys equipping students to read the New Testament in its original language as they prepare to serve the Lord.

As a school, we couldn’t be more grateful to have Robbie Booth and his family back on campus, and they feel the same way: “We feel privileged and honoured that the Lord has brought us to CBT and the CNBC, and we cannot wait to be a part of His kingdom work in Canada!” We know Robbie is committed to God and His Word, both in faith and practice, and we look forward to what God has in store. We pray that He will use our new Associate Professor to deeply impact students’ lives, and that his work at our school will make a difference for eternity.
